The
left side of the device houses a pair of volume buttons, and along the bottom there's a speaker and a USB - C port.
The power and volume buttons are on the right
hand side of the device while the USB and headphone jack are at the top.
An 8 - megapixel snapper is located on the back of this tablet, and one such camera is included on the
front side of the device as well.
The right
side of the device houses a textured power / standby key and volume rocker, and the bottom of the phone houses the new USB Type - C port.
One of the two screens sports what appears to be an optical fingerprint scanner integrated into the panel itself, with the same
side of the device also sporting a dual - camera setup.
The camera is featured on the left
side of the device if you're holding it in landscape, which is sort of an odd placement for the camera module.
With plenty of spec leaks and even photos of a working device making its way onto the internet, there is little left to speculation about the
hardware side of this device.
You could almost do everything on that e-ink display without ever going to the bright, pixel -
laden side of the device.
The
e-ink side of the device is capable of displaying tons of content, such as calendar details, stocks, weather, your email or messaging inbox, and of course e-books.
I mean, if you are putting a notch in the phone, at least make the screen on all the other three
sides of the device go right to the edges.
A swipe from the right - hand
side of the device opens the apps menu for instant access, with the most recently used apps at the top of the list.
As for the volume buttons, they are placed on the top
left side of the device, but they are too small and difficult to press.
I've spent some significant time playing one of my retro games (NBA Jam) on the smaller Pixel, and I've found that the audio quality has always been muffled when I've held the right
side of the device in landscape mode with my right hand.
The front, of course, is the defining
side of the device with the 5.7 - inch display dominating, with negligible displays on the right and left, an earpiece and front facing camera, and flash above it.
There is also a magnetic keyboard dock connector on the left hand
side of the device as the right side of the tablet houses the power button, volume control keys, SIM and memory card tray and the microphone.
The phone comes with a bio-metric fingerprint scanner on the back
side of the device rather than integrated into the home button while being powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM.
In the meantime, the abovementioned image shows only the back
side of the device so there isn't a lot of information that can be gleaned.
The curved edges and
sides of the device make for a somewhat better handling experience, but the metal body is quite slippery, so using this rather large phone with one hand isn't the easiest.
On the right you'll find a beautifully textured metal power button, with the volume rocker placed below and just above the center point of the phone, while the left
side of the device holds only the single - SIM card tray.
