nice to see you crawl out
of your hole just in time to offer your 2 cents worth once again... unlike yourself I started following this team long before Wenger arrived on the scene and will continue to do so long after he's gone... in his earlier years I admired the cerebral elements he brought to the EPL, which at that point was more brutish than beautiful, and I respected the seemingly tireless efforts
of Arsene, Dein & staff to uncover and develop talent without sacrificing the product on the
field... likewise I appreciated that such a youthful manager wasn't afraid to bring strong personalities and / or world - class players into the fold without being fearful
of how said players would potentially undermine and / or dilute his authority... unfortunately this all changed about 10 years ago and culminated in the removal
of all our greatest players, both
young and old, without any real replacements coming in... from Henry to RVP to Fabergas and Nasri, it was easy to see that this club was no longer interested in competing at the highest levels... instead
of being honest, minus the ridiculous claims regarding the new stadium, Wenger chose to
side with management and in doing so became the «front man» for this corporation pretending to be a world - class soccer club... without the «front man» this organization would have been exposed numerous years earlier, so his presence was imperative if the facade was to continue... it's for this reason and more that I despise what this once great man and Kroenke has done to my beloved club... the gutless, shameful and manipulative way they have treated the fans, like myself, is largely indefensible and this is why I felt it necessary to start offering my opinion in a public format... trust me, I resisted the temptation for many years but as long as the same shit continues to exist I will voice my opinions and if you don't like it maybe you should look for a different team to pretend to follow
Alot
of individuals blames bellerin for 2
of the goals, however i beg to differ, if by positioning bellerin was in the right position covering his CBs, so therefore the man who should have been doing that job would have been the man infront
of Bellerin on that
side of that
field, many say it was Iwobi, but if you looked it was actually ramsay, second goal was definitely a foul, it was strange that the referee pointed for a penalty when xhaka pushed the
young man in his back, with the same offense seen as not a foul.
Let's face it goalkeepers tend to march to the beat
of a different drum and Szczesny certainly fell into that category, but most
of his antics were relatively harmless and simply reflected a certain level
of immaturity that isn't uncommon for someone thrust into the limelight at such a
young age... lord knows we've seen that happen with numerous players throughout the years and very few were ever banished for such behaviour... the only on -
field action that drove me crazy was his inability to take a deep breath and not try to rush the play with an ill - timed throw at certain points in the game when common sense suggested holding the ball and slowing things down... the fact that he continued to do this probably had a lot to do with the glaring lack
of coaching time spent with the goalkeepers... ultimately he made the fateful decision to take his frustrations out into the public sphere and paid dearly for it... in the end, his services were wanted by several
of the best Italian squads, which is significant considering the historical importance placed on the defensive
side of the ball in Serie A... all I know is that if someone asked me to pick the most athletically gifted goalkeeper we have had in our squad since the arrival
of Wenger, without hesitation, he would be my pick and for that reason his departure is more than a little disappointing... what else is new though
Nothing like one underachiever blowing smoke up the ass
of another... we know that Ozil has some incredible technical gifts, but to be considered the best you have to bring more than just assists to the table... for me, a top player has to possess a more well - rounded game, which doesn't mean they need to be a beast on both ends
of the pitch, but they must have the ability to take their game to another level when it matters most... although he amassed some record - like stats early on, it set the bar too high, so when people expected him to duplicate those numbers each year the pressure seemed to get the best
of our soft - spoken star... obviously that's not an excuse for what has happened in the meantime, but it's important to make note
of a few things: (1) his best year was a transition year for many
of the traditionally dominant teams in the EPL, so that clearly made the numbers appear better than they actually were and (2) Wenger's system, or lack thereof, didn't do him any favours; by playing him out
of position and by not acquiring world - class striker and / or right -
side forward that would best fit an Ozil - centered offensive scheme certainly hurt his chances to repeat his earlier peformances, (3) the loss
of Cazorla, who took a lot
of pressure off Ozil in the midfield and was highly efficient when it came to getting him the ball in space, negatively impacted his effectiveness and (4) he likewise missed a good chunk
of games and frankly never looked himself when he eventually returned to the
field... overall the Ozil experiment has had mixed reviews and rightfully so, but I do have some empathy for the man because he has always carried himself the same way, whether for Real or the German National team, yet he has only suffered any lengthy down periods with Arsenal... to me that goes directly to this club's inability to surround him with the necessary players to succeed, especially for someone who is a pass first type
of player; as such, this simply highlights our club's ineffective and antiquated transfer policies... frankly I'm disappointed in both Ozil and our management team for not stepping up when it counted because they had a chance to do something special, but they didn't have it in them... there is no one that better exemplifies our recent history than Ozil, brief moments
of greatness undercut by long periods
of disappointing play, only made worse by his mopey posturing like a
younger slightly less awkward Wenger... what a terribly waste
It will all depend on when will we finalize the signing if mustafi is in good form and in good strength it will show on the training
field but in all honesty the
young defenders didn't do that bad at the warm ups come to think
of it gabrial was the weakest point and there could be a quick solution by recalling varmalin to the
side but this is the way I would resolve the urgency
of the matter personally
