The Nook does show a two - page layout when you turn the screen sideways, and it allows you to
sideload ePUB books you check out from your public library or buy from other vendors.
My hubs was wrassling with his T1 the other day... we never did get it to work right on his comp; had to go thru a different computer and use Calibre to
sideload some epub books he bought from a professional website.
The eReaders and tablets sold by B&N and Kobo allow you to
sideload an EPUB file directly to the device by connecting it to your computer and copying the file into a folder.
Sideloading content gets easily screwed up (I use Calibre); too many
sideloaded epubs seem to confuse it; when I switch between books, the fonts revert to default, no matter how many times I change it; and downloading BN samples also screws up the library — the sideloaded content just disappears.

sideloaded ePubs on the Glo HD as well.

epub file turned back on so I can resume

Even longer answer: You can not access the play store through the kobo reader (in any meaningful way), but you can download
epub books from the play book store, and then use Adobe Digital Editions to
sideload them onto your kobo.
Keep in mind, the Shine 2 supports Adobe DRM, so you can
sideload in purchased content from your favorite bookstore, as long as it is in
EPUB or PDF.
This means that you can not
sideload in your own content because the Amazon App Store does not have any 3rd party e-reading apps to read Kindle books or anything that will read

In this case, it's the Nook Market, but you have more variety in movie and music services, and it's easier to

EPUB files that come from arbitrary sources.
Other (Amazon Kindle for example) convert
EPUB files into their own proprietary formats and don't allow consumers to directly «
sideload»

• B&N is squandering part of their advantage in using
ePub with Adobe DRM, in that you can't
sideload previously purchased books — like if you had a Sony Reader, you could use Adobe's Content Server to transfer DRM'd books you bought from Sony's store to your nook.
The Nova's built - in app has a fair amount of features and supports
EPUB and PDF formats (yes,
sideloading too), but what I don't like is that it is slow to load and has a row of icons arranged along the top of the screen at all times when reading.
