in significant bone loss that may lead to osteoporosis that makes the bone prone to breaking.
A study comparing bone loss in the lumbar spine in perimenopausal (the period of life shortly before the occurrence of the menopause) women showed that in the control group who supplemented the diet with whey protein,
significant bone loss occurred.
Also, menopause increases a woman's risk for developing osteoporosis (
significant bone loss) and some studies suggest that a proprietary extract of red clover isoflavones may slow bone loss and even boost bone mineral density in pre and peri-menopausal women.
