fares have been too expensive for low earners for a long time — to make them affordable enough so that poorer adults use them at a
similar rate to rich adults would require major cuts to
fares, and therefore a major
increase to taxpayer subsidy.

While we all get equally crushed by the changes to the earnings on most economy
fares, Alaska and BAEC flyers get substantial
increases in miles earned for premium cabin travel — so far there's no sign of a
similar increase for AAdvantage members.
