Things that have worked for other parents: getting rid of the
baby bucket & getting a rear - facing convertible seat; putting the seat slightly more upright (for older
babies whose heads don't slump forward & no more than 30 degrees), putting the radio station

As I sit at my computer typing, I hear Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, the Mr. Roger's Neighborhood reboot on PBS,
singing from the next room: «When a
baby makes things different, find a way
to make things fun.»
As an Educational Psychologist who has worked with children for over 30 years, I can say that the most important thing
to look for in a child care center is how much the caretakers talk,
sing, and read
to the
babies and toddlers.
You can try other techniques
to soothe your
baby, such
as carrying him in a front pack, rocking him, playing soothing music, and
singing.
Then, with my second rainbow
baby, the song that I still
sing to him
as a lullaby is, «Somewhere Over the Rainbow,» made famous by Judy Garland in the movie The Wizard of Oz.
Of course being a no - cry momma I always recommend going up if
baby's in distress, but this is a great way
to sing or talk
to little one
as needed.
Tip: if you are feeling a bit anxious or stressed, it can help
to hum rather than
sing,
as this will slow your breathing and help calm you so your
baby doesn't pick up on your anxiety about him falling asleep (or not).
