I would love to attempt making my own bread but all i have in the way of equipment
as of right now is... 12inch cast iron

You'll need a large
skillet with a
lid (the
lid doesn't have to be a perfect fit — you might be able to borrow a
lid from a dutch oven or stock pot,
as I did).
If you want, you can put a
lid on the
skillet so the corn steams a little
as it chars, but check it frequently and keep turning it.
