I read the series from Science of Doom and discovered that DLR only warms
the skin of the ocean and causes more evaporation and possibly cools the top few millimetres.
If it is colder in the atmosphere than in
the skin of the ocean (the usual situation), there will be a net loss of energy from the ocean to the atmosphere.
This was done in 20 years ago and is detailed in «Sounding
the skin of the ocean», Journal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, Vol.
Why doesn't the DLR photon doesn't warm
the skin of the ocean if it is absorbed by the skin?
