Since I've been trying to remix more pieces in my
wardrobe rather than buying too many new pieces, I paired my new
skirt with a simple t - shirt I already own (you could easily swap it
out for a cotton or silk button down for more formal work environments), my classic J.Crew blazer and my favorite pair
of D'orsay heels.

skirt from H&M with a button border at the front.
I audited my
wardrobe and found
out I have lots
of tops and
skirts and dresses (about 100 pieces
of sweaters, tops, dresses,
skirts, jeans, trousers and shorts, button - downs and blazers).
Plus, wearing a dress as a
skirt would also be a great option if you're doing a capsule
wardrobe (like we discussed in the last post) to get more outfits
out of a few items.
Tan is a great colour for my
wardrobe, so I decided to make a tan circle
skirt, though I thought that if I couldn't find any suitable tan fabric at my local shop, I would make it
out of blue chambray.
Between the knee - high socks, schoolgirl mini
skirts, chunky heels, and overflowing amount
of plaid, you'll want to toss everything
out of your closet immediately (and cop Cher's still - insane virtual
wardrobe organizer while you're at it).
So I broke
out two
of my trusty
wardrobe staples: my gray turtleneck and my black pencil
skirt.
I get such a thrill pulling a 20 year old

This being said, rather than purchasing a sparkly holiday dress that lives in the back
of your closet for 11 months
out of the year, have you thought
of investing in a great
skirt and blouse that you can pair with pieces that already exist in your
wardrobe?
Now that some cherry blossoms are
out and it looks like we might've turned the page on winter here in London (perhaps a tad optimistic), it is time for my favourite
wardrobe staple, the silver sequin
skirt to sparkle in the sunshine, instead
of hiding beneath a winter coat.
But I can't rely on this one look to keep me going, I need a few capsule items to bolster my Spring
wardrobe... my current thinking is a classic pair
of cropped or straight leg trousers (i'm loving these), a quality white shirt to throw on with everything, something a little special for weekends or evenings
out (this jumpsuit has seriously caught my eye), maybe a flirty midi
skirt for styling up and down (this one's gorgeous), and maybe a statement loafer (these Gucci ones have stolen my heart).
When picking a tulle
skirt, go for a color that both makes you happy (this is all about living
out some
of those ballerina dreams after all) but that you can also coordinate with other pieces in your
wardrobe since, you know, wearing a tulle
skirt isn't an every day sort
of thing.
These
skirts are an absolute must for your
wardrobe as they never seem to go
out of style.
I've seen a few leopard coats that I like in the sales too, and I have pulled this
skirt out from the back
of my
wardrobe as leopard is back!
I'm trying to build up my
wardrobe more sensibly after a massive clear -
out made me realise I have a load
of patterned
skirts, tops & dresses that I can not mix and match, so I'm trying to build more
of a neutral capsule
wardrobe so I only need to buy accessories often to feel like I have a load
of new outfits!
