The good news is the 4 - month
sleep regression phase is just that - a phase.

Babies and toddlers can go through several
phases of
sleep regression and common times include 4 month
sleep regression and 8 - 10 month
sleep regression, so this could be the reason your baby is waking at night.

phases are commonly called «
regressions» but they're actually a part of PROGRESS towards independent
sleep.
However, these
sleep regressions are commonly confused with growth spurts or just passed off as a «
phase,» when they're really just a normal part of your baby's development.
But how can you distinguish a
phase of
sleep regression from other factors such as a growth spurt which can also cause
sleep problems?
This is where the first
phase of
sleep regression tends to occur.
My son went through the same
phase at 4 months, though I had no clue about the «Wonder Weeks» and
sleep regression, let alone any techniques to help him
sleep.
While it would be nice if this» 4 month
sleep regression» was only a
phase that will disappear in time, unfortunately, it is not.

Take heart, though — these
regression phases are usually short - lived (most last no more than a few weeks), and most toddlers return to their normal
sleeping habits once the
regression is over.
Remember that
sleep regressions are normal
phases that most children experience at some point.
