Things that have worked for other parents: getting rid of the baby bucket & getting a rear - facing convertible
seat; putting the
seat slightly more
upright (for older babies whose heads don't slump forward & no more than 30 degrees), putting the radio station to static & having it the same volume as the crying, singing, trying different kinds of music, sitting in the back with the baby (obviously only works if someone else can drive:)-RRB-, having toys that are just for the car, only going somewhere when baby is sleepy... I'm sure there's others, those are the most common
BTW, in the
upright position the
seat is
slightly reclined.
Upright and recumbent bike
seats have
slightly different considerations required.
Knees will be only
slightly upright, so Chevrolet has not had to scoop out the bottom of the back
seat and have you sit close to the floor for that decently ample headroom.
Combined with the new
seats, designed to keep the pelvis in a more natural,
upright position, the prototype felt far more serene and pliant than its production counterpart, but lost nothing in terms of road feel (if anything, the
slightly weightier steering was an improvement) or useful interaction.
The fabric may make the Up's
seats slightly more exotic, but their flat shape means they aren't very supportive and you cling to the wheel to keep you
upright during cornering.
The backseat is raised
slightly and affords a fairly
upright seating position.
It was easy to get properly positioned behind the wheel in a superbly supportive
seat, the controls were well positioned and the relatively
upright,
slightly bowed A-pillars made it easy to see out and accurately position the car.
I was glad once we were airborne and I could adjust the
seat, as I found the fully
upright position
slightly uncomfortable.
The generous sized
seat and backrest offer plenty of support when you are
seated, with the back
slightly angled inviting you not to sit bolt
upright but rather sink into this cosy setting.
