Big in your list I can agree that all these players would improve us, but let's look at our CB At the moment Kos, top player but is struggling with a inj which may or may not heal, at the moment he isn't match fit so not up to his own high standard, so needs help or a defender of his quality so he can go and recover properly So then we have Mert, too slow and no longer good enough, I'm not sure if he's even good enough for 3 rd choice CB, too slow, poor on the air for his size and not brave enough, he's lasted this long due to Kos he needs a Top class CB just to allow him to play against average teams Ok now Reid not top class we can all agree so we couldn't really play him with MERT as he isn't Kos quality so can't cover merits deficiencys He could be ok with Kos but Kos is struggling So is Reid what we need???? And finally Wenger if he has all 3 fit will still play Kos / Mert first choice Oh and God forbid we play MERT / Reid against the top teams like Chels / city / utd / Southampton Chuckle chuckle

lst season at stamford bridge, was the first time i saw that 4 -1-4-1 formation being used, and for some weird reason i feel a very strange negative vibe and well all know the outcome.the manager has come back with this formation and its not yielding result, but he still sticks with it.i do nt know much about formations dear friends, but if you are playing a slow dm in arteta and a very very slow cb, then you are toast against quality teams with sound tactics.wen playing wellbeck as a lone striker, i think 4 -2-3-1, will work better, but if we have a big player like oliver (boooos), thn we can try the 4 -1-4-1, thingy cos he can hold the ball for our midfielders to run in.but on the overall, shame on wenger for not giving our defence a good cover DM.NO BODY PLAYS A SLOW DM / CB AND EXPECT TO B REGARDED AS CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL.IT HURTS GUYS, REALLY HUslow dm in arteta and a very very slow cb, then you are toast against quality teams with sound tactics.wen playing wellbeck as a lone striker, i think 4 -2-3-1, will work better, but if we have a big player like oliver (boooos), thn we can try the 4 -1-4-1, thingy cos he can hold the ball for our midfielders to run in.but on the overall, shame on wenger for not giving our defence a good cover DM.NO BODY PLAYS A SLOW DM / CB AND EXPECT TO B REGARDED AS CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL.IT HURTS GUYS, REALLY HUslow cb, then you are toast against quality teams with sound tactics.wen playing wellbeck as a lone striker, i think 4 -2-3-1, will work better, but if we have a big player like oliver (boooos), thn we can try the 4 -1-4-1, thingy cos he can hold the ball for our midfielders to run in.but on the overall, shame on wenger for not giving our defence a good cover DM.NO BODY PLAYS A SLOW DM / CB AND EXPECT TO B REGARDED AS CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL.IT HURTS GUYS, REALLY HUSLOW DM / CB AND EXPECT TO B REGARDED AS CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL.IT HURTS GUYS, REALLY HURTS.

I just don't know why people think Ox has been useless for all these six seasons. The only season where he was real bad was 15/16 where Wenger stifled his progress.Apart from that season he's always been injury plagued causing him to have some bad performances. He's had many good matches but it was just injuries which slowed him down.I also advice people to stop using stats to judge him. We've had a lot of statiscally useless players who have been rated and are still being rated by Arsenal fans. All Ox lacks is finishing that's all.I don't even think he's improved like many people say.His dribbling and crossing was always good. His finishing has been lacking. He's still the same player I've always known three seasons back yet people are behaving like he's improved massively.

Not expert enough against top teams who love his reading of game so much they put a shit load of goals passed him... It's not just that's he is slow it's also because he is one of the worst distributors of a ball I have seen in top flight football... Just watch his passing to players with no option but to boot loose ball or pass back... It is truly shocking... so yes unless you're a 4th place junkie mert should be a bench player just like for Germany in World Cup
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
I want 4231 back with ozil at no. 10 behind lacazette with alexis left and iwobi right then buy 2 CM's like carvalho etc I'm sick of the mess the team is in with players out of position or not having the players that suit to system Xhaka is wenger latest mistake bcoz he can't defend and is to slow and that's why wenger went with 3 at the back!
Does it mean we don't have money to buy players ❓ apart from that arsenal are too slow in times of trashing out a deal to buy players, and honestly sometime they think they're smart they don't wan na spend money to buy a player, we hv lost players like Suarez, higuain, Etc..
Why mention slow, every year Wenger adds something else to the squad, which enhance the squad, money is not a issue no more like 3 - 4 years ago, why not in one go fix the squad, get the average 20 + goals striker (ok got laca), get the beast of DM or the strong defensive leader in CB, No, Wenger waits for the players he has chosen to develop slowly, which continue to add up in years without the title.
Things like playing ozil in the wing making him useless and slowing down the global tempo is beyond me and it's disapointing because he is getting critics for his poor perfomances, WHY WENGER KEEPS PLAYING PLAYERS OUT OF POSITION?

OMG what is Wilshere doing in this team?He lost every single ball, slow as a snail, a brake for the attacking opportunities.Get rid of him fast, don't make the mistake renewing his contract.A mediocre player at its best.Elneny looked like Maradona after replacing him, not spectacular but very precisse in passing and movement. We dropped the wrong player (Ox), keeping the mediocre one.But he is Wenger's darling...

But I can't for the life of me understand why the dumb frog can't see the weakness in midfield or the need for another strike option... arteta is a player I like but he simply can not boss the midfield it's not in his game his Ariel cover is non existent and since last year his excessive lateral passing is a major reason for us being slow out of defence....
Qualities: Giroud - Hold up (but not against top defenders Tery, Cahil, etc), short pass, hard working, team player, defensive duties (set - pieces), injuries Benteke - Hold up, short pass, better dribbler, long shots, finishing, positioning, defensive duties (set - pieces), can play with his back to the goal and also drop deep and face the goal when marked weakness: Giroud - very slow, easily marked, poor finishing (not wc finisher), technique Benteke - injuries, not a hard worker If you look the stats for the since 2012/2013, they have almost similar records except that Benteke scored like total of 19 goals (correct me if I'm wrong) in his 1st season and also have a decent record against top teams, keep in mind he plays for AstonVilla not Arsenal where you get much more chances and better players around.

A DM will not make a difference as long as we play the way we play, Sanchez still has that Barcelona «press as a pack mentality», the way he was pressing and kept asking his team mates to join him in hunting for that ball was amazing, but non of our players had the same attitude, I don't know why but our play changed since 2010, we don't dominate games any more, we look so slow to close down, it always feels like we are just waiting for the opposition to misplace the ball and then we he ago, it is so easy to play against as their is no intensity and the other team has all the time to run at us and play defense splitting passes..

And on other matter of importance where Per goes on to say players look for Ozil at every given opportunity which is just bollocks and what if the team has 0 % confidence in themselves then how will slow Per make a forward pass where he plays in a league filled with negative tactics like the one used at Norwich to foul Alexis.
use your head, do you really think the situation surrounding Messi and Barcelona was anything like the one created at Arsenal... apples to oranges when comparing the clubs or the situation surrounding the players involved... slow your roll buddy because you are in way over your head... stick to making generic comments about people moaning, but make sure you don't change your tune if the window closes, nothing changes and things implode before Xmas... my comments are carefully considered and I never flip - flop on a weekly basis regardless of a win, tie or loss... furthermore, if you don't like to read honest opinions about the club you pertain to follow, stick to getting your info from the club owned and operated site
