we should leave ozil alone, i know that he hasn't been at his best yet but i, d rather have him struggle now while the rest of the team is firing on all cylinders, it, s a long season and i truly believe that he will come good when we are struggling & depending on him he, ll start racking up the numbers of assist, his slow start to the season might be because after recovering from the euros it is taking him a bit longer to get going again compared to other players but not to worry because» FORM IS TEMPORARY BUT CLASS IS PERMANENT».

If Monaco was Arsenal we would've also wanted to keep Lemar and Mbappe more than anyone else.People can ignore the fact all they want that they don't want to sell Lemar at any price this season. It's just the player's wish that is sort of forcing their hands a bit.Monaco are just finding excuses to not sell him but deep down they know they never wanted Mbappe and Lemar to leave this season even before the transfer window opened.Wenger will now take all the blame for being slow why the facts available prove he wasn't.
Chelsea only slowed spending in recent years because they went totally ham in the years prior, they are stacked full of good youth (they sold a lot of quality young players too) and Roman seems to have little appetite for overspending now but they still have bigger resources than us and better facilities just like City a fact people gloss over and the result of the overspending on youth sees them recoup money that they then use to spend whilst it looks like they are not spending (also got lucky with the price inflation directly after they went crazy on youth and the regularity of their China deals is sketchy at best.)

Big in your list I can agree that all these players would improve us, but let's look at our CB At the moment Kos, top player but is struggling with a inj which may or may not heal, at the moment he isn't match fit so not up to his own high standard, so needs help or a defender of his quality so he can go and recover properly So then we have Mert, too slow and no longer good enough, I'm not sure if he's even good enough for 3 rd choice CB, too slow, poor on the air for his size and not brave enough, he's lasted this long due to Kos he needs a Top class CB just to allow him to play against average teams Ok now Reid not top class we can all agree so we couldn't really play him with MERT as he isn't Kos quality so can't cover merits deficiencys He could be ok with Kos but Kos is struggling So is Reid what we need???? And finally Wenger if he has all 3 fit will still play Kos / Mert first choice Oh and God forbid we play MERT / Reid against the top teams like Chels / city / utd / Southampton Chuckle chuckat our CB At the moment Kos, top player but is struggling with a inj which may or may not heal, at the moment he isn't match fit so not up to his own high standard, so needs help or a defender of his quality so he can go and recover properly So then we have Mert, too slow and no longer good enough, I'm not sure if he's even good enough for 3 rd choice CB, too slow, poor on the air for his size and not brave enough, he's lasted this long due to Kos he needs a Top class CB just to allow him to play against average teams Ok now Reid not top class we can all agree so we couldn't really play him with MERT as he isn't Kos quality so can't cover merits deficiencys He could be ok with Kos but Kos is struggling So is Reid what we need???? 2) I would like a defender because Per is a great player to have in the squad & has done great job but he is slow & Gabriel though I believe will be even better next year has scared at times... a younger, experience & skilled defender would be great like Kostas at Roma or Marquinhos at PSG 3) Striker there's some available out there: Higuain, Aubameyang, Morata, Lukkaku, Michy.
lst season at stamford bridge, was the first time i saw that 4 -1-4-1 formation being used, and for some weird reason i feel a very strange negative vibe and well all know the outcome.the manager has come back with this formation and its not yielding result, but he still sticks with it.i do nt know much about formations dear friends, but if you are playing a slow dm in arteta and a very very slow cb, then you are toast against quality teams with sound tactics.wen playing wellbeck as a lone striker, i think 4 -2-3-1, will work better, but if we have a big player like oliver (boooos), thn we can try the 4 -1-4-1, thingy cos he can hold the ball for our midfielders to run in.but on the overall, shame on wenger for not giving our defence a good cover DM.NO BODY PLAYS A SLOW DM / CB AND EXPECT TO B REGARDED AS CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL.IT HURTS GUYS, REALLY HUslow dm in arteta and a very very slow cb, then you are toast against quality teams with sound tactics.wen playing wellbeck as a lone striker, i think 4 -2-3-1, will work better, but if we have a big player like oliver (boooos), thn we can try the 4 -1-4-1, thingy cos he can hold the ball for our midfielders to run in.but on the overall, shame on wenger for not giving our defence a good cover DM.NO BODY PLAYS A SLOW DM / CB AND EXPECT TO B REGARDED AS CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL.IT HURTS GUYS, REALLY HUslow cb, then you are toast against quality teams with sound tactics.wen playing wellbeck as a lone striker, i think 4 -2-3-1, will work better, but if we have a big player like oliver (boooos), thn we can try the 4 -1-4-1, thingy cos he can hold the ball for our midfielders to run in.but on the overall, shame on wenger for not giving our defence a good cover DM.NO BODY PLAYS A SLOW DM / CB AND EXPECT TO B REGARDED AS CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL.IT HURTS GUYS, REALLY HUSLOW DM / CB AND EXPECT TO B REGARDED AS CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL.IT HURTS GUYS, REALLY HURTS.
Up front we have a few world - class players surrounded by some serious pretenders... Sanchez is by far the most accomplished player in our attack but the controversy surrounding his contractual mishandling could see him go before the window closes or most definitely by season's end... obviously a mistake by both parties involved, as Sanchez's exploits have never been more on display than in North London, but the club's irresponsible wage structure and lack of real intent have been the real undoing in this mess... Lacazette, who I think has some world - class skills as a front man, will only be as good as the players and system around him, which is troubling due to our current roster and Wenger's love of sideways passing... Walcott should have been sold years ago, enough said, and Welbeck should never have been brought in from the get - go... both of these players have suffered numerous injuries over their respective careers and neither are good enough to overcome such difficulties: not to mention, they both are below average first - touch players, which should be the baseline test for any player coming to a Wenger - led Arsenal team... Perez should have been played wide left or never purchased at all; what a huge waste of time and money, which is ridiculous considering our penny pinching ways and the fact that fans had been clamoring for a real striker for years... finally Giroud, the fact that he stills wears the jersey is a direct indictment of this club's failure to get things right... this isn't necessarily an attack on Giroud because I think he has some highly valued skills, but not for a team that has struggled to take their sideways soccer to the next level, as his presence slows their game even more, combined with our average, at best, finishing skills... far too often those in charge have either settled or chosen half - measures and ultimately it is us that suffer because no matter what happens Wenger, Gazidis and Kroenke will always make more money whereas we will always be the ones paying for their mistakes... so every time someone suggests we should just shut - up and support the team just think of all the sacrifices you've made along the way and simply reply... f *** off
Let's face it goalkeepers tend to march to the beat of a different drum and Szczesny certainly fell into that category, but most of his antics were relatively harmless and simply reflected a certain level of immaturity that isn't uncommon for someone thrust into the limelight at such a young age... lord knows we've seen that happen with numerous players throughout the years and very few were ever banished for such behaviour... the only on - field action that drove me crazy was his inability to take a deep breath and not try to rush the play with an ill - timed throw at certain points in the game when common sense suggested holding the ball and slowing things down... the fact that he continued to do this probably had a lot to do with the glaring lack of coaching time spent with the goalkeepers... ultimately he made the fateful decision to take his frustrations out into the public sphere and paid dearly for it... in the end, his services were wanted by several of the best Italian squads, which is significant considering the historical importance placed on the defensive side of the ball in Serie A... all I know is that if someone asked me to pick the most athletically gifted goalkeeper we have had in our squad since the arrival of Wenger, without hesitation, he would be my pick and for that reason his departure is more than a little disappointing... what else is new though
To be honest klopp is a character we could use so much, he is the kind of coach I would like to see at arsenal, full of passion and will demand the board for world class signings instead of relying on old and slow players like flamini and arteta
It may be that after their slow start to the season, Liverpool have been forced to accept that they can not possibly persuade a player of Coutinho's calibre to carry on at Anfield.
The Arsenal team that Arsene Wenger picked for the match at Anfield yesterday were absolutely awful in the first half and were extremely lucky to be only 2 goals down at the break, but although some players have complained that they just weren't ready, Wenger believes that the slow start was because they didn't play a game last week, and suffered from «a lack of competition».
He is too slow to play at RB, he is a Chahill kind of player better suited for the middle, any fast winger will pass him easily.
I believe what makes cazorla the player he is, is the ball rarely gets lost at his feet, he can dribble in tight spaces or pass the ball for that clear cut chance, plays with his right or left, great at dead ball situation, accurate shooting, his tempo is amazing too he will slow it down or speed it up based on the circumstances, an intelligent player that can read the game a lack of pace but that means nothing when you are this talented!!
You are right but Arsenal are not the same since Pat Rice retired, remember back then in the 60th or 65 th he made subs now he has no one Boulds was only a back up player he has no idea he sits there with Wenger where as Rice would be up and at em if things headed telling Mertisaker has to be the slowest defender the premior leg has seen Remember we had Toure Camble fast men the second goal can't blame Monreal Mertisaker was out of the 6 yard box leaving Ramsey and Monreal to cope with the scorer who was so taller than them.
How are these players not chomping at the bit now that top teams dropped off, we should be hungry as a starving dog, but no, somehow we are slowing games not getting in peoples faces and showing a lack of hunger desire and intensity.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
I want 4231 back with ozil at no. 10 behind lacazette with alexis left and iwobi right then buy 2 CM's like carvalho etc I'm sick of the mess the team is in with players out of position or not having the players that suit to system Xhaka is wenger latest mistake bcoz he can't defend and is to slow and that's why wenger went with 3 at the back!
Wilshere?Mediocre at best and slow as a snail.A break for team.Let him go ASAP, the most overrated player in Arsenal history.
why don't the arsenal players put on some muscle, despite popular misconceptions muscle doesn't slow you down, just look at sprinters.
So, personally, I don't think we will land Draxler because we are too slow and at this point, there will be too many other clubs competing for the last remaining excellent players (Lemar, Seri, Draxler etc..)
We are slow to get our targets comparing to Man Utd, Man City is that we are waiting for things to happen (player want to leave, clubs want to sell at right price)-- rather than forcing things to happen — Man City pay over the odd for Sterling, Man Utd offer 275k / week to convince Schweisteinger to leave Bayern, 29M for a DM.
If you look at Arteta and all you can see is a «slow» player then fair play.
OMG what is Wilshere doing in this team?He lost every single ball, slow as a snail, a brake for the attacking opportunities.Get rid of him fast, don't make the mistake renewing his contract.A mediocre player at its best.Elneny looked like Maradona after replacing him, not spectacular but very precisse in passing and movement. We dropped the wrong player (Ox), keeping the mediocre one.But he is Wenger's darling...
First his speed, he is probably the slowest player in the BPL and as we saw last season, if you look at those hidings we took from Chelsea, Liverpool and City, he was to blame for at least half of those goals because he was too slow to back track or keep up with quick attacking players.
5) You say «if you look at those hidings we took from Chelsea, Liverpool and City, he was to blame for at least half of those goals because he was too slow to back track or keep up with quick attacking players».
The EPL is fast paced and when players get into the twilight of their careres at Arsenal, Barcelona is the best option for them as they play similar to us but at a slower pace.
thats the disadvantage if introducing players to the big stage when they are still teens to become starters they become injury prone they have slowed progress in their careers look at what it has done to players like gibbs fabregas walcott chamberlain welbeck wilshere
Kante would be fantastic at Arsenal but let's be honest the pace that Mr Wenger goes about signing a player is slow he didder's at the thought of spending the money.
A DM will not make a difference as long as we play the way we play, Sanchez still has that Barcelona «press as a pack mentality», the way he was pressing and kept asking his team mates to join him in hunting for that ball was amazing, but non of our players had the same attitude, I don't know why but our play changed since 2010, we don't dominate games any more, we look so slow to close down, it always feels like we are just waiting for the opposition to misplace the ball and then we he ago, it is so easy to play against as their is no intensity and the other team has all the time to run at us and play defense splitting passes..
Pace has skyrocketed recently (meaning a lot more miles traveled per minute, leading to more total distance per minute and also higher average speed so less time resting those legs at slow speed) and also defenses now have to be everywhere (before defense wasn't as tiring as it's now because every player didn't need to cover as much ground as they do now).
And on other matter of importance where Per goes on to say players look for Ozil at every given opportunity which is just bollocks and what if the team has 0 % confidence in themselves then how will slow Per make a forward pass where he plays in a league filled with negative tactics like the one used at Norwich to foul Alexis.
Very slow player and lack creativity the best he can do is passing backwards and sidelines to be honest not arsenal material at any stages even in his best.
use your head, do you really think the situation surrounding Messi and Barcelona was anything like the one created at Arsenal... apples to oranges when comparing the clubs or the situation surrounding the players involved... slow your roll buddy because you are in way over your head... stick to making generic comments about people moaning, but make sure you don't change your tune if the window closes, nothing changes and things implode before Xmas... my comments are carefully considered and I never flip - flop on a weekly basis regardless of a win, tie or loss... furthermore, if you don't like to read honest opinions about the club you pertain to follow, stick to getting your info from the club owned and operated site
If they want to give those players the freedom to get forward and try to score, they'll need Manchester United's Matic at his best, backing them up and slowing down counter-attacks.
I said the other day, he could be the slowest player for all that is concerned he doesn't fully take advantage at all
Ok but if at least 4 like Ozil, Monreal Coquelin Sanches can control and distribute under pressure how are players like Walcott only speed, Giruid slow and can't hold the ball, Flamini I will say no more How can you not have Ellerny who on his opening game showed that he has the talent Coquelin Arobi were far more threatening than Ramsey Walcott Giroud.
Finally it went for Arsenal, I think first half was very tense, level, nervous, full of tackles, like a bird on a wire, I would say, I agree that Teves caused much trouble over the right side, I don't know who played there for Arsenal, it looked sometimes as if the Arsenal player had been a bit too slow for Tevez, agree that Fabiansky had a great game, (you always need some fortune for it) and Nasri, he impresses really since some games now, clinical finishing and one of those who are finishing at all, Faby wasn't at his best and nevertheless he was so important, there were several decisive moments, at the start a save by Fabiansky (and later on some more), the red card, Nasri's goal, after the missed penalty I feared City would take advantage of it, but I think Songs goal broke their mentality, and second half at least the final thirty minutes were rel.
Ozils the slowest, laziest, halfassed player without possession in the world, at least Arshavin would tackle, this guy JOGS around and keeos himself away from the action areas, Robben made shut of him ten times second half, it was a procession down our left wing.
Tasked with slowing down Silva will be Dortmund's midfield pivot Julian Weigl, another crucial young player for Tuchel's side at just 21.
At the time most Arsenal supporters had thought they'd seen the last of Song, a player that appeared too slow, both in mind and body, to cut it in the fast - paced English game.
