When in 169 one of the contestants, Menelaus, was returned to the office, Antiochus, who had already incurred the bitter resentment of faithful Jews by his interference, sought to correct his financial plight by entering the Temple himself and stripping it of its considerable movable wealth.31 Antiochus became at once the object of Judaism's bitterest hate; and no doubt in part in retaliation but also as an expression of this ardent Hellenist's frustration
with a people
slow to change, he effected an otherwise quite unprovoked
attack on Jerusalem in 168.

That's why Walcott is asked to play as a hold up striker, Ox is supposed to play off the shoulder of defenders, Podolski had to cover for Gibbs and rarely get in the box, Arteta had to cover the counter

Up front we have a few world - class players surrounded by some serious pretenders... Sanchez is by far the most accomplished player in our
attack but the controversy surrounding his contractual mishandling could see him go before the window closes or most definitely by season's end... obviously a mistake by both parties involved, as Sanchez's exploits have never been more on display than in North London, but the club's irresponsible wage structure and lack of real intent have been the real undoing in this mess... Lacazette, who I think has some world - class skills as a front man, will only be as good as the players and system around him, which is troubling due to our current roster and Wenger's love of sideways passing... Walcott should have been sold years ago, enough said, and Welbeck should never have been brought in from the get - go... both of these players have suffered numerous injuries over their respective careers and neither are good enough to overcome such difficulties: not to mention, they both are below average first - touch players, which should be the baseline test for any player coming to a Wenger - led Arsenal team... Perez should have been played wide left or never purchased at all; what a huge waste of time and money, which is ridiculous considering our penny pinching ways and the fact that fans had been clamoring for a real striker for years... finally Giroud, the fact that he stills wears the jersey is a direct indictment of this club's failure to get things right... this isn't necessarily an
attack on Giroud because I think he has some highly valued skills, but not for a team that has struggled to take their sideways soccer to the next level, as his presence
slows their game even more, combined
with our average, at best, finishing skills... far too often those in charge have either settled or chosen half - measures and ultimately it is us that suffer because no matter what happens Wenger, Gazidis and Kroenke will always make more money whereas we will always be the ones paying for their mistakes... so every time someone suggests we should just shut - up and support the team just think of all the sacrifices you've made along the way and simply reply... f *** off

Santi, Falmini, Ramsey, Wilshere, Arteta, Monreal, Mert, Chamber etc very

This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can
attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too
slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played
with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-
attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent
with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too
slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
I expect we'll have to
attack Ivanovic as he's
slow which means we could potentially
attack down the left wing
with Alexis.
If wellbeck can build a connection
with ozil he will give us more than giroud also if wilshere can continue his recent progress then a wilshere ozil wellbeck Sanchez chamberlain
attacking line up could be damn good but how any serious manager could leave us
with our defensive options beggars belief... We are
slow old and mistake prone in too many positions....
Because Wenger is obsessed
with possession football and square passes, it
slows our
attacks down, which gives the opposition time to get men behind the ball and get defensively organised.
Yes thats probably reason, but if you do nt
attack you wont win, so there you go, our manager accepted defeat before the game, and he hoped that maybe Alexis or Ozil perform something crazy and win, thats not how team should be set up, Chelski defence is
slow why not use that to our beneffit, no one said we need to have 70 % poss to win, if he was scared from counters than why did nt he surprised Mou and played his style, beat him on his own game, they did nt have strikers they couldnt hurt us, he shold have started
with pace and counter their
slow defence, simple logic, but it seams our manager freezed
I think that formation will do us good compared to the 4 -1-4-1 we're trying to adapt to.Can some1 tell our defender they're not midfieders and strikers their is to defend.Look at chelsea defends they barely move forward and if they do they cover quick before their oppenent counter
attack them.But par is too
slow to do that so better for him to stay in his pole.I think
with the city match AW shd play....

slow on tape and needs to be faster at the point of
attack, which I agree
with.
First his speed, he is probably the
slowest player in the BPL and as we saw last season, if you look at those hidings we took from Chelsea, Liverpool and City, he was to blame for at least half of those goals because he was too
slow to back track or keep up
with quick
attacking players.
5) You say «if you look at those hidings we took from Chelsea, Liverpool and City, he was to blame for at least half of those goals because he was too
slow to back track or keep up

attacking players».
Unlike Walcot, Giroud likes to stick at the central position holding the ball, this provide no chance for Sanchez to roam about on the front three and
with him Carzola looks non-mobile, he tends to pay short passes in and out while Ozil more often tend to drift to the wings looking for putting in crosses and the overall game is
slow which inturn provides room to the opposing teams to
attack causing our defense vulnerable and commit mistakes.
Through balls from Ramsey and Carzola (if he finds his boots) and factor in big Welbeck's turn of speed
with Sanchez pulling defenders all over the left side of the pitch and we could (if Wenger doesn't
slow it down) have some beautiful
attacking / counter
attacking football on the horizon.
I think Per is
slower this year than last (if that were possible) and he cant play as a defender in an
attacking team like Arsenal, where we are constantly getting hit
with counter
attacks.
mick totaly agree
with the cdm i was watching the game and thinking how easy it was for leicester to break from there half to our back 4
with little or no resilience we saw the same against everton stupid wild panicky tackles flying in we definatley need someone who is focused on protecting the defence and
slowing down
attacks while the boys get straight at the back
Mert is what you call the thinking CB, not the quickest, actually probably the
slowest in the EPL, but he uses his brain by taking up great position to foil the forwards
attack, if he could just learn not to get caught out at the half line
with a pacey forward he will be good for another year gradually bring fade out.
But the Pacers won't have the chops to
slow down the Cavs
attack, which has been otherworldly
with Kevin Love on the floor since his return from injury.
Please make article on that
with an in depth analysis of his passing success rate and the way he
slows down the arsenal
attack.
If you correctly assessed the game especially at first half, it was very
slow and that was due to the fact that Giroud was very
slow, he didn't provides a room for our midfielders to
attack with high pacy, and this was the case in last season maybe some of you have forgotten.
no idea what games you have been watching but the idea of ramsey as a defensive enforcer is comical... missed tackles galore,
slow in to tackles and weak first touch define his game... though to be fair only wenger thinks he is a renasiance footballer qble to play any position... the ramsey bandwagon was for some time based on the barca cant have him ay any price delusion... the man should be part of the summer sale crop along
with mert walcott and gibbs... its fifty fifty on campbell and giroud... both are decent squad players but the need for quality
attacking options is palpable
Right now the only weak link in this team is BFG... when will he dropped to benched... everybody knows that he is too
slow and everyone exploit that in every single game... but still he keeps on starting the game... i never feel secure
with him especially when we are
attacking and play high line... If I was gabriel I would be fuming from inside... cause gabriel is so much better than him but still BFG starts while gabriel always start from the bench... We have enough warnings by now, surely we are not waiting for a Monoco like game... and then start blaming him... Gabriel has to start, the guy got lot to offer... his mentality his attitude his passion, fire in the belly this guy has to start... and he also can be the leader that this team so badly crying for years now...
With there fast
attack it would be suicidal to play a high line plus
slow defenders.
Can't hit the barn door
with his shot, can't dribble past a lamp post and in fact his turnovers in midfield only
slow our counter
attacks when he should just PASS THE BALL.
His positional awareness is terrible too, as you can see whenever the opposition starts a counter
attack he is backing off, lining up along
with our central defenders rather than try to
slow down their tempo as Coquelin would normally do.
Or adequate defenders that aren't constantly making errors or found floundering because they are as
slow as hell when we are on the
attack and look helpless against any team
with an ounce of pace!

Atletico returned from the dressing room after their half - time team talk and it was much of the same
with frustratingly
slow build - up play, no creativity and the reliance on a moment of inspiration that never came from one of their
attacking players.
Seemingly playing the game in
slow motion, Carvalho impressed
with his measured passing and solidity in midfield, providing an assured foundation to allow the
attacking players flow forward.
If he decides to continue playing the counter
attack then he must drop all the
slow players because they can't quite fit into a team that transitions from defence to
attack with speed.
The dynamism and speed of them though certainly rivals City in some respects,
with Liverpool's
slower build - up play the only aspect that lets them down — but as we saw against Bournemouth,
with Coutinho's goal, there are clear signs of improvement across the board for the variety and strength in Liverpool's
attacks.
