of the January austerity measures imposed on our stomachs — it contains only a
small amount of fat and sugar
using pears as a partial substitute.

of low carb veggies as my «filler» in a meal, about a cup or more, then moderate protein (a
small palm - sized), and a reasonable
amount of fat.
Added
fats are okay, too, when
used in
small amounts to enhance texture and flavor
of foods.
While a significant
amount of body
fat can be
used to make energy,
smaller but significant
amounts play just as important a role in regulating metabolism.
If you're still having trouble losing after those adjustments, then you either need to exercise more or reduce calories by cutting
fat a bit further (eg, reduce the butter,
use vinegar with a
smaller amount of butter or coconut milk to flavor the yam).
Avoid milk (high in carbs) or
use small amounts of unpasteurized full -
fat milk.
How to
use: When making a
small amount of food — for example, one medium - sized sweet potato — I will
use about one tablespoon
of high - quality
fat with 1/2 teaspoon
of curry powder.
To provide a variety
of good
fats, I also
use cold pressed extra virgin olive oil and a
small amount of cold pressed flax oil in hummus, mayonnaise and salad dressing.
It is rich in the
fat soluble vitamins A, D, K and E with all
of the cofactors necessary for proper assimilation
of these nutrients.8 I
use clarified butter if I am cooking for children with dairy allergies who do not tolerate the
small amount of lactose or casein found in whole butter.
So it's not that your
fat - burning will turn «off» if you eat 1 almond, but that your body will either respond commensurately to the
small amount of sugar (and reduce your
fat - burning very slightly to be able to
use that sugar, at which point it will increase its
fat - burning back up) or it will overreact to any degree (dumping insulin into your system and reducing your
fat - burning levels disproportionately).
The deficit days will be
used on days you aren't training to cause a
small amount of fat loss and ensure you don't overeat when you aren't training.
