art collector, he owns several
small works by Harris, although none is in this show, which Martin says is the first
exhibition to focus exclusively on great works from Harris's best - known period.
Mimi's
smaller piece within this
exhibition was called Dollhouse (one of the best - known icons of feminist

smaller shows regularly claim some sort of interrogative capacity for exploring the interaction between these two broad categories of material culture.

This
small, but enlightening and enriching
exhibition at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Salzburg, brings together 12 of these «objects», rarely ever seen, and recently acquired by the J Paul Getty Museum and the Los Angeles County Museum of
Art (LACMA) from the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation, set up by the artist before his death from HIV / Aids - related complications at the age of 42.

exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Native
Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico (2012) and at Urban Shaman Contemporary Aboriginal
Art in Winnipeg, Manitoba (2013) highlighted his most recent work — a striking series of
small works on paper and panels and an impressive collection of large scale paintings on canvas — work he describes as «rooted in Indigenous abstraction and Modernist aesthetics».

At Volta, the
small art fair affiliated with the much larger annual Armory Show, galleries presented a curated
exhibition featuring a single artist.
His solo
exhibitions include Episodes at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston; The Refinery X: A
small twist of fate at the Palazzo delle Papesse - Centro Arte Contemporanea in Siena, Italy, and Rites of Way at the Walker
Art Center in Minneapolis; Ward is currently working on a solo
exhibition to be presented at Mass MoCA later this year.
