Under normal circumstances, the tears that are produced
drain away from the eye through
small holes on the inner surface of the lower lids, and very little, if any, staining of the fur around the eyes occurs.
Atresia of nasolacrimal puncta: a condition where the
holes on the inside of the lower eyelids (puncta) are too
small, closed or blocked so tears spill over the lid instead of
draining to the nose.
