Nias Surf Report Off season
waves in Nias Jan / Feb 2018 It has been very quiet at Lagundri Bay with a mixed bag of visiting surfers from Europe, Korea and Australia and most of them of a low to intermediate level looking for
fun small to mid-size conditions.
Slightly different in personality than the other beaches, Pereybere is known for being popular with the younger crowd, including teens and twenty - somethings looking for
fun in the sand, usually in the form of a volleyball or soccer game, though kite boarding and even some body boarding on the
smaller waves found here are also favorite pastimes.
The
wave is not particularly fast and is ideal for beginners when it is
small, yet intermediate and advanced surfers will have a lot of
fun when it reaches the 5 to 6 ft range (it seldom gets any bigger than that).
Today morning at Uluwatu was a bit windy but to 8:30 the conditions became clear,
waves were quite
small about 1 - 2 ft. size, so for our intermediates it was a good chance to have
fun, practice and sharpen their skills.
There are going to be some
smaller fun sets rolling on the Pacific side & the Caribbean side of Costa Rica is going to have massive double overhead sets rolling in, if you want some big
wave surfing head to the Caribbean this weekend.
Right now at 6.00 AM the sun is just starting to poke it's face over the eastern horizon and I'm pretty sure the
waves are going to be pretty much the same size as yesterday,
small but
fun.
Unlike some of the other beaches, this South facing beach has some mild surf, so expect some
fun and
small waves when swimming / wading in the water.

Always a
fun wave even when
small.
The off season seems to have come a little early and
waves have been
small so far with this latest group, but we have been having
fun.
Yesterday the 22nd and our morning surf check on the Outer reefs here in Tuban was showing
smaller waves again but there were still some
fun sized waist to head high sets on Middle Reef.
More advanced surfers should check out the world - class beach breaks at Cape Woolamai, while beginners can head to Smiths Beach and YCW Beach for some
fun,
small waves.
This surf spot is better for beginners; the spot on the left side has
smaller waves, more
fun for long boards.
Arriving at Keramas just before 7.00 Am to find

waves hitting the main break.

fun waves from the Gu and the later part has a handful of photos from up the coast near Jembrana The Gu is always
fun but the numbers in water can get out of control while the long lefts of Jembrana usually only have a few Euro learners in the water, but they can be pretty dangerous at times as we all know too well.
