For the most part, the
scissor type of
nail cutters is especially
small so these can be used for pups as well as
small breeds of mutts.
We alternate between
nail clippers for
small breeds, pliers - style
nail clippers for larger breeds as well as a
scissors - type
nail clipper.
To trim your dog's
nails, use sharp
smaller scissor - style clippers.
To cut the
nails, you can opt for guillotine trimmers,
scissor - like trimmers, or
nail grinders (
small versions of a Dremel tool).
When clipping cat
nails, I prefer to use a human
nail clipper or a special
nail clipper for cats that looks like a
small scissor with curved cutouts in the blade.
Scissor type clippers generally work well on
small breeds, while cat - and dog - style trimmers are strong enough to cut larger breed's
nails.
An emergency medical kit containing gauze pads,
scissors, styptic powder or sticks to clot bleeding
nails and beaks, bandage material cut into
