community, we have developed a plan to buy and tear down the building and replace it with a
small walkable «neighborhood town center.»
Now they must choose: Pay $ 2,500 or more on a
small rental unit that may give them enough space to raise a
small family, or move out of the downtown core, into a not - so -
walkable, not - so - close - knit
community in an inner suburban area or even further out.
I.e., paradigm change to
smaller communities (Dunbar's Number),
walkable communities, renewable energy systems within, most likely, a steady - state - ish economy.
Whether by choice or necessity, the millennials are also living in
smaller spaces, tend to favor
walkable communities with transit.
Tightly knit,
walkable communities that encourage neighborhood interactions,
small - business development, and locally sourced food are exploding in popularity.
