One
small aesthetic distraction is a strange justification that pushes all of the content into the upper left -

hand - painted with some of the quirky freedom that characterizes her impermanent fabric arrangements, but the bead installation follows a uniform scale, height, and
spacing logic, with beads dropping in parallel and perpendicular lines from the grid of ceiling beams from thin, nearly invisible strings that alter and direct the flow of the viewing
space.

Gavin Brown, an artist who has just opened a

space in the South Village, on Broome Street near the entrance to the Holland Tunnel, sees his venture as a natural result of a shrinking art world in which artists must once again take things into their own
