smaller than a salad plate... but that's okay!

This
small shop had less bread items
than almost any other boulangerie that we had visited while traveling through Provence, and I ordered two baguette sandwiches to hold me over — one ham and cheese and one chicken
salad.
I didn't have more
than 2 of those
small (each is half of a large collard leaf) wraps, 1/4 c of cuke
salad and an 1/8 c of mushrooms (just eye - balling the quantities).
For
salads like this I think
smaller, noodles are better
than something like spaghetti or linguine but in a pinch any of it will work!
Rinse and drain the herbs and rather
than chop them, which results in the mint and basil discolouring, tear them into
smaller pieces and add to the
salad.
The leaves are
smaller in size and more tender
than sweet basil making them perfect to use whole in a
salad or slaw.
Because the leaves are removed (tedious but character building) from their
small head and cooked only briefly, they maintain their shape without getting limp or soggy and are a bit more like a fresh
salad than cooked greens.
So we only used a
small portion in the
salad, rather
than the 1/2 pound that is recommended.
One rule of thumb for buying toppings on a
salad bar: you always need less
than you think, so go
small.
So I'll be generous with my breakfast and lunch, burn off those calories during the day, and eat a light
salad or
smaller -
than - normal dinner for the next week or so.

smaller portion of your Daily Green
Salad, and include less greens in your smoothie
than the recipe calls for.
I totally crave chocolate sometimes (I usually crave salty food more
than anything) but my go too for chocolate is a
small square of organic dark chocolate (If you can find raw organic dark chocolate that's even better)(70 % cacao and up is best), or lets say I crave something salty, I would maybe eat a
small salad, or if I am in a hurry another go too for me is a cucumber cut in half length wise and sprinkled with a little bit Himalayan salt.
If that's the case then I practice it too, such as eating at least 4 - 5 hours before bedtime so that the duration of time without food is more
than 12 hours (assuming 8 hours of sleep) plus I have a very light «dinner», a
small salad plus vegetables juicing only.

salad at the beginning of a meal ate fewer calories from the rest of the meal, and larger
salads reduced calories more
than smaller ones.
