The very
smallest dust clouds are the so - called Bok globules, named after the Dutch American astronomer Bart J. Bok; these objects are about one light - year across and have masses of 1 — 20 solar masses.

From afar it had appeared to him, quite
small, gliding over the sand, no bigger than the palm of a child's hand — as a pale, fleeting shadow like a wavering flight of quail over the blue sea before sunrise or a
cloud of gnats dancing in the sun at evening or a whirlwind of
dust at midday sweeping over the plain.

small cloud of chalk
dust in the air above them.
Cold comets are
small and unspectacular, but when they heat up, the ice and
dust that blow off catch sunlight, forming a round
cloud (the head, or coma, of the comet) and long streamers (the tail).
«The icy
small bodies warm up as they approach the Sun, and the ice sublimes to form a coma [a dense
cloud of gas and
dust particles around a nucleus] and often a tail, making the comets observable,» she explained.
Patches of
dust block out the light as it travels towards us, preventing us from seeing the stars behind it, and
smaller tendrils of
dust create the dark filamentary structures within the
clouds.
The dark
clouds almost never exist on their own but are usually a
small part of an even larger complex of gas and
dust known as a giant molecular
cloud.
Instead, the team proposes, soot and other particles in the ships» exhaust create large numbers of
cloud droplets that are, on average,
smaller than those forming around natural
dust particles in the air elsewhere over the ocean.
Astronomers know that while large stars can end their lives as violently cataclysmic supernovae,
smaller stars end up as planetary nebulae — colourful, glowing
clouds of
dust and gas.
According to a new study, a
small cloud of gas and
dust is racing toward the black hole at the center of the Milky Way — and when it hits, be prepared for some astronomical fireworks.
Blue sky arises because of the way light scatters off
dust and
cloud particles, which tend to reflect back toward Earth only the
smaller wavelengths — the blues and purples.
The eel is actually a type of
small, isolated
cloud of gas and
dust called a cometary globule because of its resemblance to a comet.
He says that the «key point is that the urban pollution
cloud comprises predominantly
small acidic particles... which penetrate indoors and persist for long periods in air, whereas industrial
dust clouds consist mainly of much larger particles».
The nebula was observed with Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys in Sept. 2015, as part of a survey called the
Small Magellanic
cloud Investigation of
Dust and Gas Evolution (SMIDGE).
In this survey astronomers are using Hubble to probe the
Small Magellanic
Cloud to understand how its
dust — an important component of many galaxies and related to star formation — is different from the
dust in the Milky Way.
In fact, the addition of
dust particles could instead create more water droplets too
small to rain down or even build a respectable
cloud.
The nebula was observed as part of a Hubble survey, the
Small Magellanic
cloud Investigation of
Dust and Gas Evolution (SMIDGE).
About 1,000 light - years across, the twisted cosmic
dust cloud apparently shaped like a parallelogram is likely the result of a
smaller spiral galaxy falling into the giant Centaurus A.
Comets and comet
clouds form early in the life span of a solar system, and are primarily composed of frozen gases, rocks and
dust, coalescing out of
clouds of
smaller particles into the cosmic bodies with trademark tails we're familiar with.
As a comet approaches the Sun, a
small fraction of the snowball (or nucleus) evaporates, forming a gas and
dust cloud, called a coma, around the nucleus.
«A very, very
small bomb», you could almost hear Hactar mumbling from the
dust -
cloud... Pegg can't resist the Spaced - style banter, but it works pretty well in this context — particularly on the Spock and Doc show — I would watch a whole other movie of those two bouncing off each other.

smaller - scale canvas, Perfect Fifth, expressed in paler tones, calls to mind both the eye of a storm (in the style of Doppler weather radar) and an interstellar
cloud of
dust and gas on the verge of gravitational collapse.

small changes in control variables past thresholds at which points the balance of ice,
dust,
cloud and biology shifts.
The suggested hypothesis, is that in regions devoid of
dust (e.g., over the large ocean basins), the formation of
cloud condensation nuclei takes place from the growth of
small aerosol clusters, and that the formation of the latter is governed by the availability of charge, such that charged aerosol clusters are more stable and can grow while neutral clusters can more easily break apart.
This illustration provided by Columbia University shows the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A, located at the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, surrounded by a
cloud of
dust and gas within which are 12
