Forty - two percent of

owners said they have three or more.

speakers to ask Alexa for news, sports, traffic updates, and all the other things that can be done on Amazon's Echo range of
speakers, including controlling

The latest research drives home a point of importance to all media publishers and distributors:
Smart speaker use is replacing other behavior — for example, 30 % of
owners say their
speaker is replacing time spent with TV.
«Although
smart speakers have not been around for very long, nearly one in five
owners say that these devices are the way that they most often listen to audio,» Webster
said.
The report also includes other encouraging signs for
smart speaker manufacturers: 70 percent of
owners said they are listening to more audio at home and 65 percent of polled users
said they wouldn't want to go back to not having a
speaker in their homes.
Smart speakers have demonstrated their staying power, with usage replacing at least some time that would've been spent on computers (26 percent of
owners said yes to the suggestion), television (30 percent), traditional radios (39 percent) and even smartphones (34 percent).
What's really interesting from the research is that 64 % of all
owners of a
smart speaker say that they couldn't go back to their life without it.
In that same vein, Echo
smart speaker owners will be able to
say «Alexa, open Cortana» to call upon Microsoft's digital assistant.
