sneaking around and taking down targets, or strolling as you do side
missions.
But where previous Metal Gear games often punished you for being discovered (this is a
sneaking mission after all, Snake) the Phantom Pain goes almost entirely out of its own way to give you an endless bag of tricks to reach in to when your carefully considered plan goes sideways...

I've easily spent over five hours in one
mission,
sneaking around, biding my time to set up deadly traps, marking enemies, and both sniping from afar and
sneaking up for a silent kill with my blade into the base of my enemy's skull (
which also gets an X-ray kill cam animation).
The ad - hoc multiplayer integration,
which allows gamers to run through the main campaign and extra
missions with up to three friends, merits praise for not only allowing two players to
sneak around in the same cardboard box but for also offering new co-op strategies and previously inaccessible areas to explore.
