Let's start with the record five - plus feet of
snowfall accumulation in Erie, Pennsylvania, in late December.
These results were compared with estimates of
snowfall accumulation in Antarctica's interior derived from a regional atmospheric climate model spanning the past quarter century.

Ireland's weather service issued a status red warning - the highest level of alert - for five countries
in the east, including the capital Dublin after heavy overnight
snowfall led to
accumulations of 5 to 10 cm.
«There was
accumulation but, at least
in the greater Capital region, we seem to be pretty lucky with the
snowfall.»
The blizzard on Sat., Jan. 23rd walloped New York City with a near - record
snowfall, with
accumulations of nearly 30 inches
in some areas.
But the large volumes of data on Arctic sea and land ice that IceBridge has collected during its nine years of operations there have also enabled scientific discoveries ranging from the first map showing what parts of the bottom of the massive Greenland Ice Sheet are thawed to improvements
in snowfall accumulation models for all of Greenland.
Land - based ice
in glaciers and ice - sheets will keep contributing to sea level rise as long as melting exceeds
snowfall accumulation; stopping the growth of temperature would not stop the net melting.
[Response: Ice sheets are
in equilibrium
in a stable climate exactly because ablation (melt,
in simple terms) balances
accumulation (i.e.
snowfall).
The
snowfall and the ice
accumulation is huge

After a weeklong delay
in data availability from a 61st satellite maneuver
in 13 years to makeup low earth orbit drag, we find Greenland ice reflectivity (a.k.a. albedo) returning toward higher values, evidence of fresh
snowfall accumulation and accompanying lower temperatures now as the melt season approaches its end.
Similarly Greenland's
snowfall accumulation is at all time highs and recent GRACE results show that after several years of accelerated ice loss due to glacier thinning, the net loss from Greenland
in 2013 - 2014 was insignificant.
Such models also indicate that warming would initially cause the Antarctic ice sheet as a whole to gain mass owing to an increased
accumulation of
snowfall (*; some recent studies find no significant continent - wide trends
in accumulation over the past several decades; Lemke et al., 2007 Section 4.6.3.1).
In some regions where winter precipitation is projected to increase, the increased
snowfall can more than make up for the shorter snow season and yield increased snow
accumulation.
In fact, according to [Moelg and Hardy, 2004] precipitation aids net
accumulation much more through the albedo affect, which reduces ablation, than through the mass added directly by
snowfall.
The research not only finds a dramatic increase
in snowfall, it further explains connections
in the global climate system by attributing the record
accumulation to warmer waters thousands of miles away
in the tropical Pacific and Indian Oceans.
