If the first cut is the deepest, the second might just be the most entertaining — or
so the Veloster Turbo would have you believe.
Two doors are shorter than one long door and swing out a shorter distance from the side of the vehicle,
so a Veloster driver cramming into a tiny parking space can get closer to a wall or other obstruction on the passenger side without inhibiting the swing of the doors.
For starters, the 450 - watt Dimension premium audio system is standard,
so every Veloster that wears the Turbo badge is packing eight speakers including a subwoofer and an external amplifier.

Veloster N, a car that might finally fulfill the

The Detroit auto show had very few surprises this year, but one of our favorites was the Hyundai
Veloster N. We've known it was in the works and would be closely related to the i30 N sold in Europe, but we had no idea it would debut
so soon.
While the models are all - new, they retain the style and feel of the original
Veloster along with the two - plus - one asymmetrical body configuration that made the cars
so interesting to start with.
We wish the Korean automaker had chosen to use the
Veloster Turbo as the foundation for the RE: MIX and even made it a little more feisty by adding additional boost, but this new
Veloster comes without any performance upgrades what
so ever.
The
Veloster Turbo is still quiet, even at higher engine speeds, and the engine lacks the character that finds itself
so readily in the GTI and the Mini, to say nothing of the Abarth.
We'd pick the package-less
Veloster Turbo with the six - speed manual — no sunroof,
so you can enjoy the extra headliner graphics.
Output-wise, the
Veloster N falls right between the Golf GTI and Golf R,
so I'm going to talk about both for a proper comparison.
If I had to guess why the
Veloster's performance impressed me
so much less than the similar Accent, I'd blame three factors: more weight, oversize wheels, and transmission gearing.
Well,
so today we have just received this spy pictures from South Korea where a mysterious Hyundai
Veloster N test mule was spotted out there in the wild in highway.
It's been half - a-year since we've heard anything about the
Veloster,
so hopefully this event — and the Turbo's appearance — will bring some news.
However I really like the idea of a Dual Clutch
so I tested the
Veloster and I can tell you the difference is astounding!
The 2019 Hyundai
Veloster just went on sale,
so it has not yet been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but it does come with segment - first standard features like forward collision - avoidance assist and lane keep assist.
So, the
Veloster Turbo looks unique, it's quick, handles well, but it plays in probably the toughest segment in the market.
The body gets modified with N components,
so nobody will mistake your exclusive high - performance
Veloster for an everyday one.
Hyundai believes that its N brand will gain a foothold in the States,
so consider the
Veloster N to be something of a litmus test.
While not quite as much fun to drive as a Volkswagen GTI or Ford Focus ST, the
Veloster Turbo holds its own, and does
so at a price that undercuts those two by thousands.
There are very few
Velosters,
so it's almost like a club you're in when you have this car, similar to bikers.
The
Veloster is a more interesting aesthetic starting point than the I30 hatchback,
so the N makeover is less dramatic this time around.
I am
so impressed with the design, performance, and the number of premium options on the
Veloster, especially considering the price point of $ 23K fully loaded.

So can Hyundai continue selling volume in the US market and potentially gain ground in other receptive markets like Australia with the next - generation
Veloster?

I haven't been crazy about Hyundai's electric power steering, but the
Veloster's is the best
so far; it tracks reasonably straight on the freeway and feels good in the curves.

Veloster Concept.
Hyundai has benchmarked cars like the Fiat 500 Abarth, MiniCooper, and Volkswagen Beetle, and I would also toss in the now - dead Ford Fiesta ST.. Some people may cross shop this car with the Golf GTI, but the
Veloster Turbo is smaller and less expensive,
so I wouldn't call it a GTI - competitor.
Our family loved my 2014
Veloster so much we went back and got the 2015 Matte Grey for my 18 year old daughter when she graduated high school.
Hyundai loves adding adjustable steering to its cars, and sometimes it can feel disingenuous — not
so with the
Veloster.
The eight - speaker Dimension audio system filled the
Veloster Turbo's cabin with excellent sound, though I was wishing for a bit of sound deadening when on the highway
so I didn't have to have the system cranked when I was listening to certain things.
So where does the
Veloster Turbo stack up in the sport compact hierarchy?
Rarely are cars tested by motoring.com.au completely free of flaws, and
so it proved with the
Veloster Turbo.

Veloster is on hiatus
so far for 2018.
So if you are in the market for a manual [sporty] car, I can't think much for it's price, Maybe a
Veloster or a Swift Sport, but I don't like the look on the
Veloster, or the spec, and the Swift Sport requires RON 97.
