Hi Ella, I was
so excited to receive your new book & I also brought one for my daughter, however I seem to be having trouble with the
taste of the receipes I have cooked, I have tried your Chocolate Chia cookies, which were really
bland, an then I tried the Sweet Patato Brownies which again were
bland an really gloopy, I would appreciate some pointers as to where I am going wrong, could it be the dates?
I've made lots of Ella's recipes and I've absolutely loved all (except for the cacao oatmeal cookies which I found super
bland), and I quitted sugar and wheat almost 5 months ago
so my
taste buds are used to this kind of cooking,
so I figured I should give them a try.
Chicken, fresh vegetables, cream, and yet her food
tasted so bland.
The dough was nice and airy, but just a touch
bland; I will add a small amount of flavor to it next time (citrus zest or other) The glaze was actually too sweet for my
taste, especially given the filling,
so I will decrease the sugar by 1/4 cup.
Trying to use a blender will yield gritty ricotta and trying to add more water to compensate will yield a really
bland taste,
so a processor is a must here.
I was surprised that this recipe didn't call for vanilla; I
tasted the batter in progress and felt it was still a bit
bland,
so I added 1T vanilla extract and baked for 15 minutes.
I made a peach and blueberry ice cream a few weeks ago and did not put nearly enough sugar in
so it

taste, it can be thinned and thickened as necessary without difficulty, it's not highly allergenic, and it's easily digested.

Flavoured dairy - free options such as Vanilla almond milk tend to be popular choices as they hide the
bland taste of their not
so sweet counterpart.
Dogs have much different
taste buds than you do,
so while you would probably never eat lentils without any flavoring, your dog certainly won't care if they're a little
bland.
So I just made these and as well they are really bitter and really
bland even after adding in 1/4 cup of maple syrup... I see it's either love or hate... and while i think it's a good recipe it doesn't have that decadent sweet tooth fix... they are not at all sweet or rich... but ive noticed this about other recipes as well to the people that complained and need something rich and sweet I'd suggest sticking with raw vegan brownies over cooked paleo brownies the recipe itself isn't bad it's just not suited for all
taste buds... however I learned about date paste from here and best thing ever!
