When we sampled Infiniti's new Q50 Red Sport 400, we were dutifully impressed by the almost instantaneous

torque curve is more arched, too,
so the power feels
less rushed,
less lumpy than the old Titan, flowing out in a longer, more orderly flow.
However, its rivals» diesel engines pile on maximum
torque lower down the rev range,
so there's
less need to work their gearboxes hard.
Interestingly, the hybrid system's
torque, at 127 pound - feet, is almost identical to the gasoline engine's 128 pound - feet,
so the hybrid doesn't really feel
less peppy around town.
For sure, it's marginally
less powerful at 178 - hp in comparison with the 185 - hp 2.4 - liter, but the smaller unit has more
torque (195 lb - ft versus 178 lb - ft) over a far broader portion of the rev range,
so is that bit better at bringing the vehicle up to speed.
In actual fact, the high power output and
torque of the Bi-Turbo combine
so well with this transmission that performance figures usually associated with much larger but
less efficient engines are achieved.
This time they enhanced the car's engine
so it can develop no
less than 700 HP (515 kW) and 880 Nm of
