In the former, throttle tip - in is incredibly lazy for the first inch or
so of pedal travel.
At slower, stop - and - go speeds, however, the drivetrain has annoying accelerator lag; in the first half - inch or
so of pedal travel, nothing really happens.

It felt perfectly stable at this sort
of speed too, although the brakes are not the most encouraging part
of the car (they're effective enough, but need a good shove deep into the
pedal travel)
so it felt wise to leave plenty
of margin for slowing.
The low - speed heft to the steering is gone, you're past the dreadfully stiff first few millimetres
of throttle
pedal travel (it initially feels more like a clutch) and the engine spins away busily but with
so much in reserve.
The
pedals are set just
so and have the perfect amount
of travel; the fat, leather - wrapped steering wheel feels ever
so right; and steering response is highly pleasing.
The
pedal just isn't that linear: There's an inch or
so of limp
pedal travel at first, and it's too grabby at the end to manage smooth stops easily.
It does this by changing the accelerator mapping
so that the same
pedal travel delivers less power than in the standard mode; the transmission control strategy for the automatic gearbox is modified to bring forward upshifts and delay downshifts, while intelligent energy and climate management reduces mechanical power consumption and also the energy consumption
of electrical systems - such as heated mirrors and seats.

So, too, the brake feel is vastly improved over before, though a large amount
of pedal travel is still required before the stopping starts.
Handling-wise, it's easy to drive considering its massive girth, though even the uprated 6.2 - liter V8 feels sluggish moving off the line; the numbers would indicate otherwise, and if you really stomp the
pedal the Sierra roars to life,
so I think it's a more a matter
of accelerator
pedal travel than any lack
of output.
