One of the many pleasures of
Dog Days, Jon Katz's latest collection of «dispatches» about life on his 110 - acre farm an hour

I've since adopted
other PMAD «mill
dogs» all saved and rehomed by a rescue that works
so hard to right the wrongs of inhumane puppy mills and
people who can't
or won't do the right thing by their animals.

dog they obtain from the shelter
or other adoption means — CL, local classifieds, etc..
Dr. Ian Billinghurst, a pioneer in feeding raw food to
dogs, recommends that
people following a BARF (biologically appropriate raw food
or bones and raw food) diet feed about 60 percent raw meaty bones (RMB) and 40 percent vegetables and

Some
dogs look aggressive on leash, but are actually frustrated by not being able to greet
people or other dogs,

My boy is 3 he is a rescue from a back street breeder at 9 weeks old
so he has grown up with me but he is constantly growling snarling an snapping at me when I try to pet him

or if I tell him off he also snaps at strangers and

Once you've got your
dog acting appropriately on a leash, then it will be easier on you to take them out as adults,
so long as they've been properly socialized and won't put any
other people or animals in danger.

So, don't get confused - especially if you're traveling abroad
or speaking with
people from
other countries about these
dogs.
They don't want to meet
other dogs or people,
so they run away
or lunge forward to stop introductions.
So I came up with the idea a
dog repellent (a very weak one) that could be attached / detached on
people's
dogs that don't want to be bothered
or want to stay away from
other dogs.
With
so many compassionate
people adopting rescues, some
dogs are bound to arrive in new homes with separation anxiety, leash reactivity, resource guarding
or other undesirable behaviors.
This either is a result of
people becoming too absorbed in their own lives,
so they lose interest in their
dogs,
or their adolescent
dog starts snarling and barking at strangers and
other animals,
so the owners get embarrassed and stop taking their
dogs places.
You also have to consider that while your
dog might be friendly,
other dogs (and
people) may not be as friendly,
so it is good trail etiquette to have control of your
dog and have him sitting
or walking next to you when
other hikers walk by.
Remember helmets, backpacks, heavy coats and
other items can change the shape of the
person so your
dog may wonder if that is actually a
person or another scary animal.
These
dogs might bark to notify
others of the seizure, lie down next to the
person to prevent them from harm, remove dangerous objects from the vicinity
so the
person is not harmed,
or attempt to revive the
person after the seizure ends if they lose consciousness.
He loves being around
people and
other dogs so he would do best in a home where someone is around a lot
or where he can have a doggy friend.
Often, it has been suggested to
people to take their fearful
dog to a
dog park
or pet store
so it can be around
other dogs to hopefully get the
dog over its fear.
There is probably nobody out there who has not had to deal with the pitfalls of the modern - day conference call: crying babies
or dogs barking on the line of the
person working from home; the dude calling in from his cell phone with bad reception; the lady dialing in from the airport with flight announcements on the P.A. system interrupting every 30 seconds; the loud talker; the soft talker; the foreign accent - talker you can not understand; the two
people who keep talking over each
other; the business - speak cliches you must endure («at the end of the day»); and
so on.
While me and my
dogs,
or any number of
other scenarios might not work in such a clean, white, sterile, etc. palatte, it's truly lovely and balanced and despite it's coolness — it is very inviting AND it is enough to help
people consider looking into the question of Craftsman and educating themselves a bit
so that, perhaps, if they ever have a Craftsman bungalow they can intelligently make decisions about woodwork, etc..
