chia seeds up to put in, say, an iced coffee
drink, will the
chia powder still
soak up fluid from your digestive track and cause constipation?
Instead of spending $ 4 per
chia seed drink at your local healthy food store, make your own by
soaking 2 Tablespoons of
seeds in 1 Cup water mixed with 1 Cup of your choice of juice for at least 15 minutes.
The
chia seeds soak up water and create a gelatinous texture throughout the whole
drink - each sip is gooey and a bit crunchy from the teeny
seeds - it is a super fun texture for a
drink.
To make this
drink I re-hydrated
chia seeds by
soaking 1 tablespoon of
chia seeds in 4 tablespoons of warm water.
In Mexico, the
seeds are
soaked until they become gelatinous, and made into a
drink called a
chia fresco.
Try
chia seeds, allowed to
soak in water for a hour where they swell up, the add some lemon or lime juice and eat /
drink, possibly along with a level teaspoon of coconut oil.
The
Chia Fresca is simply a
drink with
chia seeds stirred in, left to sit while the
chia seeds soak up some liquid, and then guzzled down.
Much better than my version of a
chia seed drink: I let the
seeds soak over night in a glass of water with just a splash of fruit juice, then I slam it down.
