Soften up that dry skin with the ultimate treat: this DIY Lavender Body
Butter Recipe!
Once I noticed the recipe called for cutting in
softened butter, I ended
up doing this by hand.
2 cups all purpose flour 1 1/2 cups white sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt zest and juice of 1 lime 10 tablespoons
butter,
softened and cubed
up 1 - ish cup of buttermilk 2 eggs 2 cups diced rhubarb, about 1/2 a pound
When I first took them out of the oven, I thought the tops were hard but then I remembered the instructions to brush them with
butter and they
softened up nicely.
I often forget to let the
butter soften at room temperature before making cookies... I never remember to defrost the meat in the fridge overnight... There's always a critical recipe ingredient that I forget to pick
up at the grocery store.
Once the
butter has melted, add the onion, salt, and pepper, and cook for 3 - 4 minutes, or until the onion begins to
soften, scraping
up any of the bits that may remain from coking the bacon.

Butter, when

I went for the peaches that desperately needed using, didn't even bother peeling them — just cut them
up, juices dripping off the cutting board all over my hands, and tossed them into a pan —
softened them
up over the heat in some
butter and maple syrup, a little cinnamon / vanilla, and called it good.
Mix for a minute or so until the
softened butter is broken
up into chunks.
I won't bore you with how to make risotto, but for 2 people, the first uses 2 links of sweet italian sausage removed from its casing and cooked with a little olive oil in a heavy skillet, broken
up into small pieces and moved around until many of the pieces are crisp; then add sliced and roughly - chopped fennel bulb, cooking until it is somewhat
softened; then put a lid on the pan over very low heat while the risotto cooks; add it all together (with
butter and parmesan) for the last 5 minutes of the risotto process.
If you forget to take it out early enough, cutting
up the
butter into 1/2» pieces helps to
soften it quicker.
I like to
soften my
butter a lot, so it spreads on easy, and then will firm
up.
People also say they weren't able to make cookies because they forgot to take the
butter out of the fridge so it could
soften up and come to room temperature.

also, depending on the temperature, this body
butter can harden
up, but it will
soften quickly when applied to skin.
I lack a pastry cutter, but a trick I've picked
up for making biscuits is to use a box grater to shred frozen
butter — since it's quicker for me to do it, I usually don't
soften the
butter to much from manipulating it with my hands.

Place the

I am assuming with the
butter being cut
up, it means cold
butter, not
softened.
