From an author's viewpoint, this is what I want from a publisher:
solid line editing, top notch proof reading, a terrific cover that will attract attention, perfect formatting, and excellent marketing support.

It's a shame because it had such potential but I fear the
editing room had a lot to do with the final result as the flow didn't feel as smooth as I would have expected and there were too many story
lines to make a
solid narrative.
By the time a manuscript reaches copy
editing, the content should be
solid, with no macro issues (e.g., plot discrepancies, time
line issues, confusing structure, etc.).
Once the content of your story is
solid, a
line - by -
line edit will clean up the mechanics of the writing and ensure your piece is clear.
