Recently, treatment of chronic idiopathic large bowel diarrhea with a highly digestible diet and
soluble fiber was reviewed in a retrospective study of 37 dogs.27 Treatment with a
soluble fiber source (Metamucil), added to a highly digestible diet, resulted in a very good to excellent response in 23 of the 27 dogs that received
supplementation.
