Children not only feel
sorrow over the death of a loved one, they may also feel
guilt or anger, especially if the deceased was a close family member.
Weisz's finest scenes take place opposite Simon Russell Beale, playing the older husband she threw
over after falling in love; Hester's tenderness toward him is palpable, as is her
guilt over her actions and her resolution that there's no turning back, even though she's now unmistakably doomed to endless
sorrow.
