As I am getting ready to launch my first book and learning the ropes in the cyber world I have been thinking about getting my book on
some sort of a blog tour or to a blogger.

blog tours often produce posts that, as Karimentioned in a comment last week, can be painfully predictable — you know, «the way that the bloggers are overwhelmed and then uplifted and then come home and, you know, can't go to Wal - Mart without crying,» that
sort of thing.

sort of following or even a Facebook page or anything when I first published, so I just typed in something like «book publicity», found some things about
blog tours.
(Note: I haven't personally used
blog tour companies for reviews as much as exposure — cover reveals, release announcements, that
sort of thing).
Imagine if an author wrote and published a book called «Forever Cocky», there's a great chance this author has been planning out a
blog tour and all the marketing plans have been
sorted out before the release
of the book.
Blog Tours are
sort of the virtual equivalent
of a book signing
tour.
I have also tried advertising with little success,
blog tours with some success, interviews with some success, and all
sorts of other promotions, with inconclusive results.
Not the kind I set up for myself, on
blogs I'd visited seven times already, with people already sick to death
of me (again, you know who you are), but
blog tours arranged by PR companies who specialize in this
sort of thing.
Beyond that, as I alluded to in the opening, there's
sort of been a new expectation / conventional wisdom creeping up that the key to being a Good Hardworking Promoting Author is to blow out your
blog, your Facebook page, your website, your Twitter feed, your Goodreads network, and better yet, all
of the above and by the way you need to set up your own author
tour and try to get some media appearances going we'd love it if you placed some articles and stories and where's your book trailer oh also don't quit your day job and don't forget about your manuscript deadline and make sure the next book is incredible and amazing and could you spend some time with your family please?
