I usually add a couple of tablespoons of
some sort of nut butter for even more flavor and protein.
I think your suggestion was probably right, of including at least one from each of the topping categories (Fruit, Berries, Nut butter, Dried fruit, Jam / Compote, Extra crunch); at minimum fresh fruit and
some sort of nut butter or compote.
I want to make them, but I need to substitute
another sort of nut butter, we have a peanut allergy in our house.
You could also swap out half of the honey for
some sort of nut butter to help the cereal stick together.
I also have a ninja and I can make
all sorts of nut butters.
