The letter content is wide and fills the entire page with ample
spacing between paragraphs for easy reading.
The format is converted nicely but you may have to open Calibre and adjust
spaces between paragraphs for a cleaner look.

Use
paragraph indents (usually about a quarter of an inch), and don't add an extra

When I downloaded it from the store it would not center text, except
for headers (which it turned into all caps) and would not indent quotes and adds a
space between each
paragraph so poetry looks strange.

for Nook Touch, I sometimes have the same problem and use the Look & Feel «remove

Make decisions
for maximum readability by aiming to keep your lines of text
between 45 - 60 characters (or 8 - 12 words per line) and using correct

We use a program that actually checks
for a laundry list of potential issues not noticed by authors and editors including punctuation errors (
space before a comma), «broken»
paragraphs (caused by accidentally hitting enter in
between a
paragraph on the manuscript), and even chapters that are numbered incorrectly (e.g. Chapter 6 and then Chapter 8).
A lot of non-fiction books also have
space between paragraphs which works well, but I don't consider it should be done
for novels.
As I mentioned above, some writers / publishers set some
spacing between paragraphs but while this is good
for non-fiction, it is a very personal choice
for novels.
For the most part, a Word document is going to result in an eBook with missing chapter breaks, too much / too little
spacing between paragraphs, and quite possibly a lot of shifted text.
Format your submission
for convenient e-mail reading by losing all of your
paragraph indents and placing a single
space between each
paragraph instead.

between a soft and a hard line break is, let away how to create each, or if you do not know how to properly

paragraphs, the odds are, you won't be able to create a solid eBook output.
