A species of chameleon small enough to easily perch on a match head has been discovered on a tiny island off Madagascar, a group of scientists has announced.
«Green iguanas and
some species of chameleons are different kinds of lizards commonly seen in the pet trade; also popular in the pet trade are bearded dragons, leopard geckos, crested geckos, blue - tongued skinks, monitor lizards and Chinese water dragons to name a few,» she explains.
One more note: most
species of chameleons rarely venture out of the trees and can muss up their tongues if they are shooting at and catching insects at the bottom of a bedded tank.
Not exact matches
In addition to the discovery
of Brookesia micra, now the tiniest
chameleon ever discovered, the researchers also announced the discovery
of three additional tiny
chameleon species.
Eighty - three percent
of Madagascar's wildlife is unique, including 8,000
of its 10,000 plant
species and two - thirds
of the planet's
chameleon species.
