species.
Other
species have only fared slightly better: the dama gazelle and addax are gone from 99 percent
of their range; the leopard from 97 percent, and the Saharan
cheetah from 90.

of just saying, «Don't go and kill the
cheetah,» I gave people years
of knowledge and understanding about the
species.
But some pairs
of species appear to be «aggregated,» meaning they tend to appear together in nature more often than one would expect by chance — like
cheetahs and giraffes who both depend on savannah habitats.
Fitzpatrick and colleague Jonathan Evans compared existing data on sperm fitness for 20 endangered and non-endangered
species of mammals, including the Florida panther, Asiatic lion and
cheetah.

Without the safari hunting, conservancies would not survive against other land - use pressures, so safari hunting has a crucial indirect, positive impact on the conservation
of rhinos and many other rare
species such as
cheetahs.»
