When trying to estimate how much dog breeders make in a year, one has to target a very
specific type of breeder.
Not exact matches
Just because a
breeder has had a few dogs trained and used as service dogs does not mean they actually understand your
specific needs (especially since there is such a wide variety
of types of service dogs) or can select a pup for you without ever meeting you.
AB 485 would remove the only remaining source
of warrantied puppies from licensed
breeders and replace them with unaccountable suppliers that do not have the
type of dogs — puppies from
specific breeds — that consumers want.
Offer up other
type of legislation as an alternative to BSL (breed -
specific legislation), such as
breeder / breeding restrictions, anti-tethering laws (does the name Tammy Grimes ring a bell?
As I
type, there are more and more DNA tests that are becoming available to help identify hidden genetic factors that would be detrimental to the breed, and REPUTABLE
breeders are taking advantage
of the DNA testing, as it pertains to their
specific breed.
And because
of that, many
breeders started to disregard the performance level and focus more on the dog's overall appearance by breeding
specific types simply to conform to the requirements and standards.
