The board that would determine whether the
research protocol met the eight
specified criteria for waiving the patient authorization requirements (described above), could have been an IRB constituted as required by the Common Rule, or a privacy board, whose proposed composition is described below.

specified protocols • Assisted students by providing them with help in understanding complex concepts • Performed
research to collect and develop teaching resources and utilize them in classroom • Observed students to ensure their physical and emotional wellbeing and report any untoward incidents to the lead teacher
