Wow ~ Add a couple of other
spices and the original
recipe you were trying (
spiced nuts) is what my mom made every Christmas for many, many years... and I have continued the tradition.
The beauty of this
recipe is that you can increase the
spices or omit the
nuts, and it will still taste great.
Eventually I started tweaking the
recipe, replacing the water with different fruit juices, adding different types of fruit, and throwing in different
spices, flavorings, even
nuts.
Hi Rita, I added up the nutritional information for most the ingredients (I did not include the
nuts, baking power & soda, nor the
spices), and this is what I came up with PER muffin (
recipe yields 12 muffins total): Calories - 128 Fat - 4 Carbs - 21 Protein - 3

Textures are so important when creating
recipes;
spiced nuts would be a great substitute for croutons.
