Spotted eagle rays, turtles and
blacktip sharks are common visitors to Turneffe's
reefs.
The Great Blue Hole is a popular
spot amongst recreational scuba divers, who are lured by the opportunity to dive in crystal - clear water and meet several species of fish, including giant groupers, nurse
sharks and several types of
reef sharks such as the Caribbean
reef shark and the
Blacktip shark.
There is a corner of Bida Nok that is well known as a good
spot to see
blacktip reef sharks so we headed that way.
On this site the guests
spotted the first
Blacktip Reef Shark of the cruise and also other few Pygmy Seahorses, a group of Blue -
spotted Stingrays and a few different nudibranchs on some of the soft corals present.
With a consistent current the divers got to see some action, as fusiliers were chased by
Blacktip Reef Sharks, Giant and Orange -
spotted Trevallys and even a Dogtooth Tuna!
All over the wreck you will
spot schooling fishes, trevallies and barracudas looking for their next meal and
Blacktip Reef Sharks patrolling the area.
Grey
Reef, Whitetip and
Blacktip Reef Shark were seen, as were schooling Big - Eye, Orange -
spotted, Blue and Giant Trevallys and fusiliers.
Reef sharks like
blacktips or whitetips can also be
spotted here.
Here you can
spot turtles, Whitetip
Reef Sharks,
Blacktip Reef Sharks, dolphins, all the superb
Reef fishes, big cods and many Green Sea Turtles.

At Heron Island's signature dive site, Heron Bommie, you can
spot mantas and eagle rays and the common
blacktip and whitetip
reef sharks.
However you can
spot blacktip and whitetip
reef sharks and Manta rays at certain times of the year.
You can
spot many
Sharks too, mainly
Blacktip and Whitetip
reef Sharks but also the strange and beautiful Wobbegong
Shark.
