I never think of
spray painting ceramics.
I have always wanted to try my hand at
spray painting ceramics but thought that it wouldn't work.

The main room feels overwhelming in scale, full of over-sized and crudely modeled

The media presented in the exhibition are diverse — black soap, wax,
ceramic tile,
spray enamel, books, vinyl records, oyster shells, shea butter, live plants with grow lights — but are all familiar from the artist's multivalent practice, and through their repeated use many have become Johnson's signature materials, offering a gateway to the artist's world: sculpture,
painting, installation and video.

spray paint and swathed with black soap and wax.
You could totally use
spray paint on
ceramic!

painted in the same way as cabinets.
Through the years I've been guilty of «buying into» a few of the more popular trends i.e.
ceramic or stone farm animals (often with wired - ribbon bows tied around their necks) 1984, artificial flower arrangements 1980 - something, twig
sprays, hunter green carpet (ugh), faux
paint effects on walls 1990 - something (I never did the sponge
painted walls, but the mottled look mimicking old plaster, I was there!)
I even transformed a few thrift store
ceramic pitchers with white
spray paint so I would have enough to fill the hutch.
On my newly refinished restoration hardware inspired end table, I added the last thrift store makeover... the little
ceramic vase that I
spray painted gold!
I love bright colored
ceramic pots but they are pricier than terra cotta, so I simply added a dose of
