of energy and will want to let it
out as quickly as possible — which, if you're not careful, could involve them dragging you along after every
squirrel or bird they see in the
yard.
Attention whining should never get attention, stress whining should never be scolded, it's important to help these dogs feel less stressed, frustration whining should never be reinforced such as taking a dog
out to chase a
squirrel or he will whine anytime a
squirrel is in the
yard, and
of course, pain whining needs attention.
Even pets that never go
out of their own
yards may end up with fleas that have been carried into the
yard by stray cats and
squirrels.
And I am thankful for the many
squirrels who come and go through our
yard all day and come to visit — it's like having a bunch
of semi-tame tree - climbing puppies and they make us laugh and brighten our day and it's a joy watching God's little farmers and gardeners (all those years
of chasing them
out of the bird feeder, we never knew what we were missing
out on).
I enjoy looking
out the window and watching the seasons change, and I often catch many an animal coming through the
yard: turkey, fox, deer (with new fawns), peahen (like peacocks), rabbits,
squirrels, chipmunks, all types
of birds, you name it.
