Each Garda District in Ireland has a juvenile liaison office and it is their responsibility to maintain informal contacts with young people at risk and to liaise with teachers, Child and Family Agency staff, school attendance officers and other gardaí in their local area.

Our team visit schools and youth organisations in England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland to train young people and staff up to help ensure that the 11,000 hours young people spend at school are safe, happy and supportive.

Through its facilitation of I like, like you, we use a whole school approach with the administration and school support staff to identify children, young people and their families who are at risk, or who are already living in families that are unsafe.
