A Design Team was
formed, made up of EXLD staff and field representatives, to support the design of the strategic planning process, review
stakeholder input results, and review and edit strategic planning materials.
We are a diverse team of five teachers who worked together to gather
input from teachers across the district, conduct research from leading experts and meet Chicago - area
stakeholders to
form key policy recommendations for improving teacher PD.
The Committee was
formed because there were a couple of key components that did not have to be finalized by the September submission deadline — namely, school recognition and data reporting — but on which MDE needed to receive
stakeholder input.
Experience has shown that when policy is
formed without the
input of all
stakeholders, chaos ensues; furthermore, we have seen how disastrous policy can be when predicated upon incomplete and erroneous data.
All such expertise is advantageous and welcome, especially since
forming a planning team that incorporates
input from all
stakeholders — builders, developers, contractors, and members of local NAHB and USGBC chapters — strengthens the end product.
