There are two reconstructions I came across regarding period you mentioned: one is for NAO, one for the rainfall (from caves
stalagmite).
Since the hockey stick paper in 1998,
there have been a number of proxy studies analysing a variety of different sources including corals,
stalagmites, tree rings, boreholes and ice cores.
There are a number of different types of proxy data types in this group including glacial deposits, glacial erosional features, shoreline features, aeolian deposits, lake sediments, relict soil deposits, and speleothems (depositional features like stalactites and
stalagmites).
Now, I could certainly imagine (I don't know if this is true, but work with me here) that
there is some science that the volume of material deposited on the
stalagmite is what varies in different climate conditions.
I was hoping that they could take a few good
stalagmites while in
there so I could do a hydrologic paleoclimate reconstruction
there... I was thinking that NSF and DoD would be on board for some rapid response funding if we could actually get some samples.
